Fox Walkers offers 4 weeks of summer day programs for ages 5-15 at the beautiful Burton Educational Preserve, just outside of Nevada City, CA (click here for a map). Our Monday-Friday day camps immerse students in Earth Skills, a blend of the ancient arts of tracking, wilderness survival and nature awareness.
Join us for a fun week of wilderness skills, tracking, music, storytelling, and cross cultural teachings!
Arrive each day with a hearty lunch, snacks, a water bottle, and extra clothes for dunking in the pond.
We offer Sliding Scale Pricing, Donor Discounts and Scholarships.

On any given day at our Fox Walkers programs, children are fully immersed in nature. They are encouraged to develop their awareness of and inherent connection to nature. Our team of instructors guide youth to engage their senses and seek answers to their curiosities. They are introduced to local animals and how to track them; learn to build a shelter; discover local wild edibles; make a bow and arrow and other tools; learn to sit in the silence and to truly listen from the inside out. Young children learn to walk as a fox and hear ancient stories. Older children learn to use knives responsibly, learn to build and tend a fire, and play games in the pond that refine balance and heighten the senses. Every session includes circle time and gratitude sharing.
Our Programs are inspired from Indigenous values and the Old Ways Earth Skills, largely learned from the Tracker School and through each Instructor's own "dirt time" living these skills.

Missed Days Due to Vacations or Sickness or Snow/Rain:
If you planned time away from your 4EEE program that exceeds 2 missed classes, advise the office AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION. We can not provide make-up classes at any time. If your child becomes ill and will miss more than 2 classes, please call the office.
We can not provide reimbursements for the rare event that heavy snow/storm/smoke requires program cancellation, or if parents/guardians opt to not bring their child to program due to weather conditions.
Charter Schools we have worked with previously include the following. Note that you are responsible to obtain pre-approval for funding from your school; we do not do this. Once we receive approval, we will note this on your account and invoice the school directly once services are delivered.
If you would like 4E to be an approved vendor for your Home Study child, please contact us with your child's name and school and request us as a vendor with the school.

- Online with credit card at time of registration for deposit or payment in full. If paying deposit only with a credit card, balance is due by cash or check only (sorry, no credit cards accepted on-site) on the first day of program before class.
- Deposits by cash or check are expected at our office within 10 days of registration in order to hold the space. Make checks out to 4EEE and mail to PO Box 1823, Nevada City, CA 95959. Include your child's name, program name and date in order to ensure proper credit. Full tuition balance is due on or before the first day of program at the start of class.
- Charter School families with pre-approved funding from the school select the Charter School Checkout payment plan. A $20 administration fee is required. Parents or Guardians are responsible for all fees not paid for by Charter School.
