Flintknapping is a modern word for the ancient art of stone tool making. Using stone for tools is a universal skill shared by all human ancestors. For millions of years, knives, axes, projectile points and countless other tools have been crafted with the expertise of the human hand. Without the stones, the first hunting could not have been done or clothing made, and ice age survival would have been hopeless.
